The Philosophy World is an academic journal that publishes for the development and understanding of philosophical thought in Turkey. The journal publishes academic and semi-academic articles as well as translations of important articles and philosophical commentaries for the dissemination and popularisation of philosophical thought. It also includes studies for the development of philosophy education. Its publication policy is based on nationally and internationally recognised academic standards.
As an independent, double blind peer-reviewed, open access and online journal, Philosophy World accepts academic works written in Turkish and English. The manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or in the process of evaluation in another medium. The manuscripts that are deemed to be in compliance with the writing rules and the scope of the journal are sent to two referees who are experts in their fields for scientific evaluation. The Editorial Board follows the criteria of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and carries out the evaluation process by taking into account the comments of the referees.
The Philosophy World includes original articles, research, commentaries, book reviews, book reviews, book reviews and translations covering all disciplines of philosophy, especially ontology, epistemology, axiology and aesthetics. Manuscripts can be submitted up to 2 months before the publication period of the journal.

Article Submissions
Submitted manuscripts must be appropriate to the purpose and scope of the journal. Original, unpublished manuscripts that are not in the evaluation process in another journal and whose content and submission have been approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.
Readership
The target readership; Professionals, experts, researchers, specialists and doctoral students working in the field of Philosophy, as well as students related to this field. It aims to contribute to the spread of continuous professional development and research culture.
1. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
• All studies intended to be published in the Journal of Philosophical World should be submitted through Dergipark.
• Journal of Philosophical World is an open-access academic journal in which plagiarism screening, pre-evaluation, blind refereeing, and editorial reading processes are operated.
• Articles submitted in Turkish and English are accepted.
• Articles are expected to be related to philosophy and its subfields.
• Studies should be in the categories of research article, research note, work evaluation, translation, scientific meeting evaluation, conversation, and loyalty note.
• The publication period is twice a year, in December and July. Studies can be submitted up to 2 months before the publication period of the journal. When the publication date of the journal comes, the articles that have not completed the refereeing or editorial review processes are postponed to the next issue.
• All manuscripts are subject to pre-evaluation and double blind review processes. The pre-evaluation process takes about 15 days and the refereeing process takes about 30 days. The stated times may be extended from time to time due to delays caused by the referees.
• Submitted studies must not have been previously published or submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.
• More than one work of the same author is not published in a single issue.
• In studies with more than one author, the contribution rate and conflict of interest statements of the authors should be submitted to our journal at the article submission stage.
• Authors should clearly declare the financial support provided by any organization within the scope of their work in the text of the article.
• In our journal, all studies requiring ethics committee approval must be approved by the relevant committee. Surveys, experiments, observations, clinical and animal studies, and research involving personal data are subject to ethics committee approval. This permission must be clearly stated in the text of the article. Studies without ethical approval are not evaluated. Scientific research on humans and animals must be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and ARRIVE guidelines and approval must be obtained from the relevant ethics committee.
• Articles should be prepared on the basis of “APA (7th Edition, The American Psychological Association, 2020)” citation and bibliography system. The adaptation of these systems to the journal Philosophy World is shown below.
2. PAGE STRUCTURE
• In the submitted works, the text should be aligned on both sides and the page structure should be adjusted so that the upper 2.5 cm, the lower 2.5 cm, the right 2.5 cm, and the left 2.5 cm gutter zero (0).
• The text should be written in Times New York font with 1.5 line spacing and 11 points, and page numbers should be added.
• The title of the study should be written in capital letters, 14 points, and bold font, and the author's tag should be added under the title. ORCID number, e-mail address, and institution information should be included in the imprint.
• Subheadings of the text should be written in bold font and 12 points, with the first letter of each word being capitalized.
• Abstract sections should be added as two separate pages/sections at the end of the study, after the conclusion, and before the bibliography.
• Keywords should be added under the öz and abstract texts with a left-aligned, 11-point, and bold font; number of keywords, At least 5; should be at most 6. Words should be chosen from the basic concepts that will reflect the main subject of the study.
• Articles should not exceed 9,000 words (approximately 25 pages). Exceptions can be evaluated by the editorial board.
3. CITATION AND REFERENCES
3.1. IN-TEXT QUOTATION (APA)
• The American Psychological Association (APA 7) style can be used in the citation system and bibliography of the articles sent to the journal. For detailed information, the page https://apastyle.apa.org/ should be examined.
• When quoting in-text, APA's author-date citation system should be used; Author surnames and year of publication as in the bibliography should be written.
Example:
Logic refers to both a way of thinking and a branch of science. Therefore, there is a strong connection between logical thinking and logic (Öner, 1986).
• If a specific page is cited or related ideas are taken from a specific section, the source should be written with its page.
Example:
Contrary to metaphysics, such as science, positive philosophy, positive scholars, who are content with events, that is, with the data of experiment without asking questions about the first causes and the re-creation of things. (Korlaelçi, 2014: 4).
• More than one source should be cited in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons while in parentheses.
Example:
(Arslan, 1995; Russell, 1945; Ural, 2018; Ülken, 1956).
• In the text, more than one work of an author with the same date should be indicated as follows.
Example: (Türer, 2021a) (Türer, 2021b)
• If the number of authors is two, both names should be written in each use. In studies with two authors, “and” is used among the author names, while “&” and “and” can be used in English texts.

• If the number of authors is three or more, only the first name and others are abbreviated in the first use. In English texts, it should be abbreviated as “et al”.)
Example; (Jacqueline Russ, et al., 2012: 105).
• When citing translated, copied or reprinted sources, the year of the original work and the year of the translation/reprint are given together.
• Sources that have no author (such as religious sources) or whose author is unknown should be cited in the text, while the title and year of the source should be written for the sources without an author.
REFERENCES (APA)
• References used in the text should be listed alphabetically as surname - name.
• If there are many references by the same author in the bibliography, the sources are listed in order from oldest to newest. Sources with the same date are sorted by letter.
For example: 2000a, 2000b.
• If the work cited as the source has more than one author, the surname of the first author in the work should be used first. If the number of authors is more than three, the abbreviation “et al” can be added after the surname of the first author.
• The publication date of the work in the source should be added in parentheses after the name.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Philosophy World is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. It is important that all parties involved in the publication process of the journal (authors, reviewers and editors) are expected to agree on the following ethical principles. Guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access should be considered.
All submissions must be original, unpublished (including as full text in conference proceedings), and not under the review of any other publication synchronously. Each manuscript is reviewed by one of the editors and at least two referees under double-blind peer review process. Plagiarism, duplication, fraud authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, salami slicing/salami publication, breaching of copyrights, prevailing conflict of interest are unnethical behaviors.
All manuscripts not in accordance with the accepted ethical standards will be removed from the publication. This also contains any possible malpractice discovered after the publication. In accordance with the code of conduct we will report any cases of suspected plagiarism or duplicate publishing.
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
Research Ethics
The Philosophy World adheres to the highest standards in research ethics and follows the principles of international research ethics as defined below. The authors are responsible for the compliance of the manuscripts with the ethical rules.
• Principles of integrity, quality and transparency should be sustained in designing the research, reviewing the design and conducting the research.
• The research team and participants should be fully informed about the aim, methods, possible uses and requirements of the research and risks of participation in research.
• The confidentiality of the information provided by the research participants and the confidentiality of the respondents should be ensured. The research should be designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of the participants.
• Research participants should participate in the research voluntarily, not under any coercion.
• Any possible harm to participants must be avoided. The research should be planned in such a way that the participants are not at risk.
• The independence of research must be clear; and any conflict of interest or must be disclosed.
• In experimental studies with human subjects, written informed consent of the participants who decide to participate in the research must be obtained. In the case of children and those under wardship or with confirmed insanity, legal custodian’s assent must be obtained.
• If the study is to be carried out in any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from this institution or organization.
• In studies with a human element, it should be stated in the text of the article that “informed consent” was obtained from the participants and ethics committee approval was obtained from the institution where the study was conducted.
All parties are expected to bear the following ethical responsibilities within the scope of the publication ethics of Philosophy World.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
• All named authors must contribute significantly to the research. There should be no unfair authorship.
• Actions against scientific research and publication ethics such as plagiarism, distortion and slicing should be avoided.
• All data in the article must be genuine and original.
• All authors must ensure retraction and correction of errors.
• The bibliography list should be complete.
• The same research should not be attempted to be published in more than one journal. Submitting the same article to more than one journal simultaneously with a request for publication is unethical behavior.
• Persons, institutions, or organizations that provide support for research carried out with support and their contributions to the research should be stated.
• Authors should not consider referee reports as personal criticism; should correct within academic limits and, if necessary, should respond to criticisms according to academic criteria.
• Authors should submit their articles in accordance with the journal's writing rules.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers
• The evaluation process should be impartial and unbiased.
• If the subject of the work is outside of the field of study, he/she should not accept the review proposal.
• Reviewers are given 14 days for article evaluation. If the publication process of the journal is appropriate, additional time may be given for requesting reviewers.
• Checked articles are not shared with others by the reviewers, and the reviewer cannot use the information and data in his/her own studies before the work is published.
• Reviewers should not have a conflict of interest with the research, authors, and/or research funders.
• Reviewer evaluations must be objective. The academic adequacy of the manuscript should be taken as a basis and criticisms against the personalities of the authors should not be mentioned.
• Reviewers are expected to provide explanations to support their evaluations.
• Even if the author's ideas contradict the reviewer’s, the reviewer should respect the author's ideas to take place in the literature.
• Reviewers should indicate relevant published but not cited works.
• Reviewers should not put their personal approaches and value judgments ahead of academic style and scientific impartiality when evaluating articles and should be constructive in their criticism.
3. Responsibilities of Editors
• Articles submitted for publication are evaluated according to academic criteria. In the evaluation of the articles gender, religion, race, ethnicity, institutional relations, etc. of authors are never used as a criterion.
• Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.
• Editors should not have a conflict of interest regarding the accepted or rejected articles.
• Only articles and translations that will contribute to the field should be accepted.
• Editors should support the publication of corrections or retraction of the article when errors are found in the article.
• Editors should keep the names of reviewers confidential and prevent studies against publication ethics, especially plagiarism/fake data.
• The contents of the articles submitted to the Philosophy World but not published cannot be used by the editor and the Editorial Board.
Plagiarism Check and Action Plan
Submitted manuscripts are scanned for plagiarism using İntihal.net. If plagiarism/self-plagiarism will be found authors will be informed. Editors may resubmit manuscript for similarity check at any peer-review or production stage if required. High similarity scores may lead to rejection of a manuscript before and even after acceptance. The overall similarity score is generally expected to be less than 20%.
If plagiarism is detected in an article submitted or published in our journal, our journal acts in accordance with the COPE principles (Plagiarism in a submitted manuscript - Plagiarism in a published article).
Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern
When editors find minor errors in a published article that do not affect the findings, interpretations or conclusions of the study, they may consider publishing a correction note. However, if the article contains serious errors or ethical violations that invalidate the findings or conclusions, editors should consider retracting the article. On the other hand, if there is a suspicion of misconduct in the research or publication and there is evidence that the research findings are unreliable, or there has been no investigation or fair and outcome-oriented inquiry by the relevant institutions, editors may consider publishing a statement of concern. Correction, retraction or expression of concern processes are based on COPE guidelines.
Ethical Violation Notifications
Readers can send an e-mail to turkfelsefeder@gmail.com if they notice a significant error or inaccuracy in an article published in Philosophy World or if they have any complaints about the editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.). We welcome applications as it will provide an opportunity for us to improve, and we will respond quickly and constructively. Our journal follows the procedure set out in the COPE flowcharts regarding complaints.
Ethics Committee Permission
In our journal, all studies that require ethics committee approval must be approved by the relevant committee. Surveys, experiments, observations, clinical and animal studies and research involving personal data are subject to ethics committee approval. This permission must be clearly stated in the text of the article. Studies without ethical approval are not evaluated. Studies without ethics committee approval are not evaluated in our journal. The approval document should be attached to DergiPark as an additional file.
Studies Requiring Ethics Committee Approval
In our journal, researches that require ethics committee permission include the following studies:
• All research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that involve collecting data from participants through methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments and interview techniques,
• Studies in which humans and animals (including materials or data) are used for experimental or other scientific purposes,
• Clinical trials conducted on humans,
• Scientific research on animals,
• Retrospective studies within the framework of the Personal Data Protection Law.
In order for such studies to be evaluated, the relevant ethics committee permissions must be obtained and these permissions must be clearly stated in the text of the article.
Relations with the Journal Owner and Publisher
The relationship between the editor and the publisher is based on the principle of editorial independence. In accordance with the written contract between the editor and the publisher, all editorial decisions are independent of the publisher and the owner of the journal.
Protection of Personal Information
All personal data sent to our journal are protected in accordance with legal regulations and ethical rules.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
Our journal is obliged to protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles and to defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in possible violations.
Conflicts of interest
Our journal guarantees the independent and impartial completion of the publication process, taking into account the conflicts of interest between the author(s), reviewers and other editors.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The use of artificial intelligence-based tools in stages that do not directly affect the original content of the work, such as literature review and language control, is acceptable in articles submitted to our journal. However, such use must be carried out in accordance with ethical rules. The use of artificial intelligence for the creation of false data, content manipulation, or other unethical purposes is strictly prohibited.
In articles that utilize artificial intelligence-supported processes, this must be clearly stated in the article submission. All responsibility for the use of artificial intelligence lies with the authors.
Change of Author
Only the article is processed before acceptance. Authors are required to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the final author list at the time of original submission.
PUBLICATION POLICIES
• Philosophy World is a double-blind peer-reviewed open-access academic journal published semi-annually (July and December).
• Philosophy World publishes original articles, researchs, comments, book reviews, critiques, and translations covering all disciplines of philosophy, especially ontology, epistemology, axiology, and aesthetics.
• Philosophy World is an academic journal that operates spelling and plagiarism control, pre-evaluation, blind peer-review, proofreading, and editing processes.
• Articles submitted for publication in the Philosophy World are subject to double-blind peer-review evaluation by at least two referees.
• The journal's publication policy is based on nationally and internationally accepted academic standards.
• In order to submit a research article to the journal, a doctorate degree is required. Ph.D. students can send the works they have prepared with their advisors to the journal.
• Articles must be submitted up to 2 months before the publication period of the journal. Articles whose reviewal or editorial processes have not been completed when the publication date of the journal comes are postponed to the next issue.
• All manuscripts are subject to pre-evaluation and double blind peer-review processes. The pre-evaluation process takes approximately 15 days and the reviewing process takes approximately 30 days. The stated times may be extended from time to time due to delays caused by the referees.
• Submitted studies must not have been published previously or must not be under consideration elsewhere.
• More than one work by the same author is not published in a single issue.
• The submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.
• In studies with more than one author, the contribution rate and conflict of interest statements of the authors should be submitted to our journal at the article submission stage.
A) Article Evaluation Process
1. The Spelling and Plagiarism Check
In the Spelling and Plagiarism check, it is checked whether the manuscript complies with the journal's spelling rules. Plagiarism is scanned through the İntihal.net program, and manuscripts with a similarity report below 20% are passed to the pre-evaluation stage.
2. The Pre-evaluation
The Editorial Board evaluates submitted manuscripts prior to double blind peer-review and determines whether they are suitable for the submission. The Editorial Board evaluates the reviewers suggestion for the manuscript.
The pre-evaluation process is approximately 15 days. This period can be extended if necessary.
3. The Peer-Review
The manuscript is sent to two different referees by the section editors within the scope of double blind refereeing.
The reviewing process is approximately 30 days. This period can be extended if necessary.
If two of the reviewers report "unpublishable", the article is rejected by the Editorial Board.
If two of the reviewers report "publishable", the article is moved to the editing process after the approval of the Editorial Board.
If one of the reviewers reports "can be published" and the other reports "unpublished", the article is sent to a third reviewer. If the third reviewer’s evaluation is negative, the article is rejected; If it is positive, it is moved to the editing process after the evaluation and approval of the Editorial Board.
If the reviewers have revision suggestions, the reviewers form and the evaluation reports, if any, are sent to the author via the system and the author is asked to fulfill them.
If the reviewers report that the article will be published after the revision suggestions are fulfilled, the article is sent to the author for final checks and corrections.
The Editorial Board has the authority to reject an article that does not consider the Reviewers reports or the recommendations of the Editorial Board and does not provide any justification.
4. The Redaction Process
The article, which is corrected after the reviewer reports, is subjected to the editing process by the Editorial Board.
The completed manuscripts are sent to the authors for finalization.
5. The Editing and The Proof-Reading Process
In the editing process,
• the proof-reading is done,
• the typesetting of the articles is done,
• Metadata, submission date and acceptance date
• Author institution, e-mail information, ORCID numbers are edited and prepared for publication.
The Editorial Board is authorized for article ordering.
NOTE: The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of all manuscripts submitted to our journal is taken by the Editorial Board.
Referee Guidelines
Please follow the steps listed below in order to review an article sent through the system:
1. Log into the “Manuscript Handling System” by entering your username and password.
2. Click “Reviewer” on the upper menu.
3. Click “Articles” (“Submissions”) on the reviewer page.
4. You will now see the title and status of the article you have been requested to review. Click the magnifier icon found under “Show” on the left-hand side.
5. On the new page that appears, you will find information concerning the article and its English and Turkish abstracts. At the bottom, there is a question as to whether or not you accept to review the article. Click “I would like to review the article” in the green-shaded area to accept.
6. Once you accept to make a review, you can download the Article file. You can also review the article by using the evaluation form that will appear on the same page.
7. While filling in the form, if you click “Save” without completing your evaluation, you can return to the form later to complete the remaining sections.
8. Once you fill in the whole form and your evaluation is complete, click “Save and Finish”.

The authors own the copyright (including commercial rights) of their works published in our journal and their works are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0. Articles published in our journal are published as open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

All works published in our journal are digitally archived in LOCKSS. Our journal also allows authors to share their articles on their own web pages, web pages of their institutions and other storage areas. The full text of all articles published in our journal can be accessed free of charge at https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/felsefedunyasi/archive.
D) Special Issue Publication
With the decision of the Editorial Board, a special issue may be published once a year. For articles to be published in the special issue, the publication and evaluation principles are applied in the same way as they are applied in the planned issues.
E) Fee Policy
Article submission, evaluation and publication processes in our journal are completely free of charge. No fee is charged for articles submitted or accepted for publication. In accordance with our publication policy, sponsorship and advertising are not accepted and all expenses of our journal are covered by the publisher.
The Philosophy World Journal does not charge any fee from the authors for the article evaluation and publication process. No fee is paid to the authors.
